Formal Recruitment

When

Fall Formal Recruitment for the year of 2017 will take place on August 24-27, 2017.  Prior to recruitment, the REQUIRED Recruitment Orientation will take place during the university's Welcome Week. University and Sigma Kappa Requirements

University Requirements:
1. You must be enrolled as a full-time student (12 hours)
2. Entering freshmen must have at least a 2.5 high school GPA; current/transfer students must have at least a 2.5 college GPA
3. Must complete a Greek Life Orientation Session hosted by the Office of Student Life BEFORE participating in the recruitment process or being extended an invitation to membership.

Sigma Kappa Requirements:

Recruitment Process Fees

There is a $70 registration fee to participate in recruitment. The fee will go towards the cost of recruitment, food, event materials, and your recruitment t-shirt. You may pay online with a credit card when you register or by returning to your My Campus Director account. Online payment has an additional $5 nonrefundable processing fee. You may also pay with cash or check by bringing it to the Office of Student Life, Student Center Suite 207 or mailing it to UCA Panhellenic Council; Student Center Suite 207; 201 Donaghey Avenue; Conway, AR 72035. If your check is returned, you will be charged a $25 dollar fee in addition to the $70 registration fee. Payment must be received when registration closes on August 19; failure to pay by this date will result in a $20 late fee. If you are not paid by the first day of recruitment, August 25, you will not be allowed to participate in the recruitment process.
If you have paid and end up not meeting the minimum GPA requirement, you will receive a full refund IF you registered before August 1, 2016. If you register after August 1 and end up not meeting the GPA requirement you will only receive a partial refund.  If you decide to not go through recruitment, you will receive a full refund if you notify us by or before August 1, 2016. Refunds will not be given if you do not show up to recruitment and/or you do not notify Panhellenic that you do not wish to participate. Additionally, no refunds will be given once you start the recruitment process.

Legacies

What is a legacy?

A legacy is a close relative or step-relative of an active or alumnae member of Sigma Kappa. Our sorority considers sisters, daughters, granddaughters, and nieces to be of legacy status. When you register for Formal Recruitment, there will be a place to indicate if you are a legacy; be sure to indicate the individual’s name, including maiden name, and the university they attended.

Letters of Recommendation
Letters of recommendation are letters of reference written by a sorority alumna to her sorority at the University of Central Arkansas. A letter of recommendation is helpful, but not required. You can begin this process by informing friends, teachers, and relatives that you are participating in formal recruitment at UCA. The alumna can either write a personal letter of reference or obtain a standard form from their national headquarters. Letters of recommendation should be sent directly from the alumna to the chapter at their address listed below.
