As an organization Sigma Kappa encourages our members to be involved in their campus and community. Because of this focus on involvement outside of Sigma Kappa, our sisters are able to engage with the campus and community in ways that are important to them by hosting and participating in a number of different events.
MIXERS AND COMMUNITY EVENTS:
Sigma Kappa Delta Tau participates in a multitude of events every year around the University of Central Arkansas' campus. One of our favorite types of events are mixers. Whether it's a Panhellenic mixer or an IFC mixer, you'll always see us there interacting with the Greek community. We especially love Panhellenic mixers, because we get to mingle and hang out with the other sororities on campus. We also host several PR events throughout the year. One of our favorite PR events was when we partnered up with another sorority to host a "Doggy Daze" event on campus.
We love to be able to spend time with our families at campus events. It's important to use that we make time to show them all of the great things we are doing in our sorority, in our community, and in our classes. Reasons like these are why we enjoy Family Day so much! Every year, in the fall, the University of Central Arkansas hosts Family Day on our campus. We take advantage of this day by showing our families our beautiful house, tailgating, eating great food, and watching our team play football. Roll Bears! Delta Tau also hosts Dad's Day and Mom's Day every spring. This is our way of showing our parents how much we care for and appreciate all that they do for us. These events provide an opportunity for our parents to connect with the sisterhood we love and meet the people we are surrounded by! Dad's Day involves fun activities such as a baseball game or the horse races in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Mom's Day is typically a nice day at an art studio or spending time with each other making DIYS. Our parents always look forward to coming to these events and so do we!
As Sigma Kappa's we love hanging out with our sisters as much as possible and Sisterhoods are just another way we can do that! Sisterhoods allow us to enjoy and bond with our sisters outside of chapter meetings and the craziness of school. Our favorite Sisterhood is the Christmas Sisterhood! We drink hot chocolate, decorate ornaments, make gingerbread houses, and watch classic Christmas movies! We also have a Sisterhood Retreat once every semester. This is a day filled with fun, food, and bonding activities. Sisterhoods are also fun and different so we always look forward to the new memories we will make! Our last retreat involved guest speaker Kim Vollendorf, outdoor activities, and a self defense class.
Delta Tau puts on one formal and one semi-formal each year. Our formal is typically in the fall and our semi is usually in the spring. We get food catered and we have awards to give out. It's such a fun time getting to dress up and see all your sisters dressed up too! We love taking pictures in the photo booths and dancing with our sisters!
